Challenges for New Political Aspirants
Many youth in our country aspire to join politics bring about a positive change in society and have a thriving career for themselves. However, due to lack of guidance majority of them are left disillusioned. To survive in the system and to make a significant place for themselves requires an in-depth understanding of the core of system. In the absence of proper guidance majority of the youth remain at the crossroads. Some of the common reasons why the youth fail are:
1. Inability to build the network and Building Grassroots Support right from the initial stages.
2. Not giving enough time and importance to systematically building your profile as a brand and developing a positive image as a progressive political leader.
3. Not setting a clear goal for a political career.
4. Getting distracted at the smallest recognition and losing focus on career and political goals.
5. Getting distracted by the earliest taste of power and using borrowed power for short-term gains.
6. Not acquiring the necessary knowledge of the constituency and local, regional and national political equations.
7. Not having command and control over speech and communication.
8. Not learning the effective usage of social media platforms and electronic media.
9. Lacking the knowledge of campaign strategy, planning and management even after getting the opportunity to contest an election.
10. Inability to generate resources, voter acceptance, ground support and run a successful campaign
11. Participating only in protest & activism and not focussing on progressive social development activities.
12. Not spending enough time and resources understanding Voter and local social engineering.
13. Inability to build and nurture a Strong Volunteer Network at the grassroots level.
14. Not acquiring the skills of effective decision-making and conflict management.
15. Start without clarity on self-awareness, strengths, and weaknesses and do not invest time in continual self-development.
16. Ignoring the critical aspect of Gender sensitivity.
